I simply cannot shut my mouth.

I’m going to repost what I just put up on the Thom Hartmann forum in regards to Clear Channel firing Nicole Sandler, a local radio talk show host here in South Florida.

Thom’s show is broadcast on a local affiliate here in South Florida called “940 Winz”. It’s supposedly a progressive channel, with various of the people from Air America being broadcast there in addition to Thom’s show. Actually I believe that the host interviewed Thom just a few weeks ago.

For days all you see on the news is the coverage about Barack’s Vice Presidential Pick and I’m trying really hard here but my interest in the presidential campaign went away a while ago. It would be something else if everything was fine in this country, and I would probably also not mention anything if we weren’t at War with a country that never attacked us. On top of that violence is starting to flare up again in the country that warranted exclaiming the fact that the mission was accomplished. In retrospect all Bush accomplished on that day on the air craft carrier was to get out of the plane.

Although I somehow feel old already, historically speaking I’m of course nothing more than a moment in time. I wasn’t around in the 50’s when Americans were subjected to the Duck and Cover and thank for online video because now we can make sure everyone sees what kind idiotic propaganda. What’s at the heart of that is feeding lies to the people that somehow seem credible. I don’t even blame the people back then because after all nuclear force was a rather new item, and probably very few people knew that laying underneath your school desk would hardly shield you from several thousand degrees generated by a nuclear blast.

As announced yesterday on Keith Olberman’s “Countdown”, Rachael Maddow, the radio talk show host that has recently been sitting in for the host occasionally, now is getting her own TV slot. I think it’s an extremely smart decision, first of all because I think she captures more of what people should be exposed to, as she has proven he’s a true investigative journalist.

California has always been on the forefront of certain issues it seems. Whenever I think a certain law would never exist here in Florida, I see California passing it. Whether it’s gay marriage in San Francisco, banning of plastic bags, recycling, the list of positive laws that were passed is long and quite frankly I’m jealous. I’m jealous that people care there and that they are willing to go with something that seemingly has little public support.

You do have to wonder whether Bush and his fellow gang of crooks and thieves just figure that at this point nobody’s paying any attention, because if they were, blow backs would have occurred already. In light of that I guess it’s not surprising that Bush comes out and accuses Russia of striking back too hard on Georgia. Where he gets the nerve to accuse anyone of anything is beyond me quite frankly but I digress.

In the year 1980 it surely didn’t make that much of a difference if you couldn’t use a computer, considering many of them at the time were as big as apartments. In the year 2008 however where just about every piece of technology you touch in a day somehow interfaces with a computer, it is completely inexcusable not to be able to use a PC or MAC for that matter. If you look through the classified section of your local paper today, you will see that nearly every job, requires some type of computer literacy. As always, Republicans continue to lie their way through everything they can. As you can see in the video, Newt Gingrich is now claiming that the mere talk of oil drilling has brought the prices down. Newt Gingrich isn’t a moron, but he’s definitely talking out of his ass. The oil prices went down because demand is down and let me tell you another thing - it’s going to go up again now due to the situation in Georgia because several pipelines have been taken offline as part of the ongoing conflict there.

As reported on Channel 10 Miami, last night police officers shot and killed a homeless person who was supposedly coming at them with a broken bottle. I have one question and one questions only - could you not have shot the man in the leg?

It’s no surprise so many police officers get shot in Florida if one considers that the officers seem to show no restraint when it comes to shooting at people. To the police officers I’d like to say thank you for keeping another dangerous criminal off the streets.
